[Theme: Yoko] Set page as home page

How come there is not option for the pages to set as the homepage? I do not want my posts to be my homepage. Also, in the media, you can add images to page/post and it will automatically create thumbnails to slideshow. Except, why in the CMS is there no way to check all images and create a gallery. The issue I am having is I have all my images in the media spot, except if I want to create a gallery, the only way i see doing this is uploading a new set on that page/post. The issue with that is it duplicated media and also I will have to re-enter all the title names and attributes that are in the media folder.
