   I'm looking for a theme (or a tutorial for building a theme) that allows certain functionality for multiple categories and featured posts that display on the home page.

   Ideally: each post belongs to category A or category B. The home page would display the 3 latest posts for category A, the most recent appearing more prominently that the other 2.

   It would also display a single post for category B close by.
   know of anything out there?

   I made a simple mockup to demonstrate (hopefully) what I mean
