[Theme: Twenty Ten 1.3] Replacing site title with image (8 posts)

    I would like to replace the Site Title (text) with a logo (image). I've tried the way it was done in pre 1.3 version, but it does not work.

    Thanks in advice.

  2. First you need to set up a child theme.

    Once you have your child theme set up, you can either add some code to the css or modify the header. Which way did you try...

    If you can provide a link to your site we can see what you've done so far.

    I'm looking for a more simpler way to do this, if it's possible.

    Perhaps something like this, as done with older WP:
    http://www.blog.web6.org/add-logo-to-twenty-ten-wordpress/

  4. That would be simpler, but you shouldn't edit your twenty ten theme. If and when there's an update, your changes will be overwritten. You should really make a child theme. It's just as simple.

    hi Christine,

    i am glad to have find stumbled upon your reasoning for child themes. i was, only a few hours ago, feeling triumphant being able to edit the Colorway theme. I know not all themes support child themes... so I'll check. So can you say how to go about creating a child theme if I were interested in changing the background-color and rounding out the corners of different segments of a page?

    thanks in advance,
    Te

    Ok.

    I've followed your advice using a child theme. What I've done so far is this:

    Created a new folder in the 'themes' directory and namned it'twentytenChild', copied the original style.css and put it in the 'twentytenChild', and added the code Template: twentytenChild.

    What code do I need to add for replacing the Site Title (text) with a logo (image)?

    This is the site I'm working on:

  7. What you want to do in your child theme is to play around with this style:

    #site-title a

    Change it to something like:

    #site-title a {
    display:block;
    width:100px; height:100px;
    background: url(path of your image goes here);
    text-indent:-9999em;
    }

    Obviously you need to set the height and width to correspond to the dimension of your logo.

    You also need to upload the logo to your media library and then use the full path in the above code.

    I just looked at your source code and I don't see you using a child theme. Make sure you go and activate it.

    Thanks Christine!
    As soon as I catch up with myself I will play with this and let you know how it goes.
