    Hi there,

    May I know how to increase the width of my post and page on Twenty Fourteen?

    Thank you.

    Hi ellioty,

    Using the Custom CSS plugin or the child css file (if you have a child theme) add:

    .page-content {
    	margin: 0 auto;
    	max-width: 974px;
    }

    I went looking for this setting and found it in:

    wp-content/themes/twentyfourteen/style.css

    Which seems like a no-brainer, a file called "style.css", but, there are about thirty CSS files in there, so not so much.

    Do not edit the Twenty Fourteen theme. It is the current default WordPress theme and having access to an original, unedited, copy of the theme is vital in many situations. First create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

    I haven't been able to get my child theme to overwrite the main one; that's why I resorted to editing the main CSS. I should probably make a post about the child CSS problem instead.

    @kaniamea I id what you said with the Simple Custom CSS plugin, and no luck. Nothing changed at all. ".page-content {
    margin: 0 auto;
    max-width: 974px;
    }"
