[Theme: Twenty Eleven] Banner, Menu, & Footer – Full Browser Width

I would like to have my child template, banner, menu, and footer, extend the full browser width. The contents can stay the same width. I want to design these areas with different backgrounds extending across the browser. How can I modify the theme? Any tutorials or suggestions?
