[Theme: Twenty Eleven] adding favicon for site

Hello,

I’m using TwentyEleven as my theme, but have created a child of the theme.

I have prepared a favicon (favico.ico) for our website. From what I gathered, I must make point to the favicon file in header.php. But how do I do this? If I create a new header.php in my child theme, doesn’t that mean that the original header.php (in twentyeleven folder) will be disregarded?

Is there a way to import the original code from the original header.php into the new header.php, just like we can with style.css [@import url("../twentyeleven/style.css");] ?
