I've made it impossible for people to leave comments without them getting approved but how do I remove the reply box all together?

It doesn't show up on the RSVP page so I'm a little confused. Thank you.

Thanks, I already did that. That's why I'm not understanding how there can be a comment section in the Reunion Details section and not the RSVP section. Thoughts? Thanks again!
WordPress has two parts where comments can be disabled (turned off) on is in above link (what you knew about) and second one is under each post/page. If (when WP is setup) we had comments open and created new pages/post under "open posts" settings any page/post will be open for comments.
You will need to turn them off as well :)
Emil
Emil.
Sorry. I still dont get it. I still have the comments box at the bottom of each of my pages. I want to get rid of it altogether. Can you tell me how I can remove the "leave a reply box" all together from some or all of the pages in the responsive theme?

Just close the comments that's all, it's described on the links above and you can see more details here as well: http://themeid.com/forum/post/12860/#p12860
Thanks,
Emil
Got it.
I just commented out the comments = true code in the full page width (no sidebar) page template file in the editor:
I changed this
<?php comments_template( '', true ); ?>
to
<?php //comments_template( '', true ); ?>
Don't do that, it's not really necessary, just follow the link above and close the comments, not only that this would be easier, but also the proper way.
Please note when you edit the Theme in any way and if you're not using a Child Theme, anything you change in parent Theme will be deleted as soon as you update the Theme.
See:

Thanks,
Emil
Emil.
I cant understand "closing" the comments from the links above. I dont see any option to close the comments either in the screen options for my page, where comments are already unchecked, or in the discussion section, which seems focussed on blogs and not pages.
I think I need more help.

On individual posts/pages http://cl.ly/0J3y0h0X22151B2p2k0Y
and if you wish to close this from future posts/pages do this: http://wordpress.tv/2009/01/05/setting-your-discussion-settings/ video will describe into details :)
Thanks,

Strange.. since I have 0 comments, I dont get an option to disallow comments in the comments box as shown here.

I figured it out. I was getting confused between comments and discussions. I needed to enable discussions in the screen options and then turn these options off.
Thanks.

I was updating text in a page today and after I updated, ALL my pages now have the "Leave a reply" form at the bottom of each page. On the discussion options within page editing both "Allow comments" and "Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page" are not checked. Why did the commenting form suddenly appear in all my pages?
Thanks!
And all my comments throughout my entire site disappeared??
Hi,
It's hard to say what happened, however you can check this individually or in discussion settings.
In either case this would not appear/disappear on its own ;)
Thanks,
Emil
Emil,
Thanks for such an immediate response and for your all effort on supporting WP and your theme.
I think the problem was a plugin. I had just updated the Facebook plugin when it happened, but didn't put 2 and 2 together. I deactivated the plugin and everything is working like it used to.
Again...Thanks,
Kevin
Very nice, I am glad to help :)
Thanks,
Emil
The facebook plug-in for wordpress seems to break the theme :-(
Here is what I am finding; with the facebook plugin installed it doesn't matter if you have comments/discussion enabled or disabled, for any pages you have the standard wordpress comments box appears (despite not having comments/discussion on for pages).
I have set the facebook plugin to have comments on for posts only, so there should be no facebook comments box on the pages of the site, and there isn't. But there is a standard wordpress comments box which cannot be removed without going into the template file for the theme and removing it.
Any help for this?
See this for the comments box which shouldn't be showing up; http://www.brandspencer.com/contact
Hi tabbiecatz,
May I please suggest to post this question for the plugin author?
Thanks,
Emil
@tabbiecatz - I'm one of the developers on the Facebook plugin (and also a personal user of Responsive). I think I've found the issue, but just getting it doublechecked with one of the other engineers.
Just so I don't derail this thread in responsive, can you post in our support group if it doesn't get resolved in the next update.
Hi Colm,
That sounds great! Hopefully @tabbiecatz will repost.
Thanks,
Emil
Thanks Colm, I will re-post in your support group if no fix in the next release.
Thanks,
Tim
