[resolved] [closed] Removing breadcrumbs (14 posts)

    Hello,

    Could someone kindly explain to me how to 'remove' breadcrumbs? I can make them hidden using the style sheet but it adds a lot of white space to pages. I believe it is something to do with the breadcrumb_trail function but I am still struggling to remove it using the child theme's function.php file. I have already tried the steps given in here without much luck.

    Thanks in advance.

    Pradeep

    Which CSS are you using to make them hidden?

    .breadcrumbs {
    visibility: hidden;
    }

    Try

    display: none;

    As opposed to visibility.

    Andrew,

    From time to time in life we come across with those: "oh why didn't I think of that before" moments. Your reply generated one of those moments :-)

    Thanks you so much mate!

    Using Display:None may leave whitespace in some themes. I wrote a post on how to remove breadcrumbs with Elegant Themes. It's very simple with Elegant Themes and probably similar with other themes. This will get rid of the white space too.

    @Ricettedelcuore - is your site, by chance, hosted on WordPress.COM? If so you need to ask in their forums here: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

    These forums are for self-hosted WordPress.ORG sites -- not the same thing but easily confusing.

    I have tried to use the display: none on my style sheet but nothing is changing. I also cannot find a breadcrumb pull on any of the .php templates. Are there any other ways to come at this?
    Thanks.

    @mbeezus It's been a while since I used this but I still can't see a reason why it is not working. Can you send the link to your site?

    Thanks for the response. I found the breadcrumbs on the functions page and just removed that command.
