Dropdown menu color (14 posts)

How can I change the color of the dropdown menus in the Oxygen theme? I'm talking about the primary menus on top, not the black ones on the side.

The default is grey letters on white background. I have tried editing the CSS in several places but without any result.

Has anyone managed to change this?

Here is one screenshot of what I am trying to change, the white dropdown menu.

Do you have a section in the dashboard named, "Custom CSS", "Custom Styles", "Jetpack" or have you a Child Theme?

    I don't have a child theme.

However, I do have the Custom CSS Manager plugin installed with a few CSS modifications to the site that are working and I have Jetpack installed.

What colour are you talking about, the text or background? Ideally can you construct some CSS for illustrative purposes of the styles you want?

I'd like to change both the background and the text color of those dropdown menus.

I had tried editing the original CSS in several places but got no results.

This time make your CSS changes by creating new styles in your Custom CSS section of the dashboard.

If your CSS still doesn't work, may you post it here?

Well the original CSS is still there, unedited.

I tried searching for #menu-primary in the CSS and adding the color number on every place where color was mentioned but nothing changed.

For example this is the original CSS:

[Originating CSS moderated - We can already see that from the theme's demo website]

Which CSS is it that you're creating in your Custom CSS Manager - that isn't working?

I haven't done anything with the Custom CSS Manager regarding this problem. I have changes there relating to header size, text color and removal of comments and they are working fine.

I tried editing the original CSS for this issue only by adding the desired color number.

Have you found a way to do this yet?

Such customisation should be applied in a child theme (http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes). A plugin for adding custom CSS might be an alternative, I guess.

There is an option "Custom CSS' in the theme backend (for legacy compatibility reasons), but it's going to be deprecated in the future and I don't recommended you to use it.

OK, but what exactly should be changed, where do I add the color codes? I have tried that on several places but nothing happened.
