[Theme: Oenology] changing fonts (6 posts)

    I added a google fonts plugin to change fonts in the theme/website and while it did change some of them, in the sidebar for instance most of the site was font defined.

    I copied the styles.css file to my child theme folder and on opening it I see lots of specific font definitions.

    Would deleting lines 62 to 229 be the right thing to do so that alll my fonts are controlled via the google plugin?

    Thanks for everything, my site is coming along nicely.

    PS: Your blog looks whacked in FF. It loads, displays, then I get ..
    Oops! This page appears broken. DNS Error - Server cannot be found.

    I wouldn't recommend wholesale copying of style.css into your Child Theme's style.css. Instead, use:

    @import('../oenology/style.css');

    ...and then only redeclare the styles you want to override.

    Picking out the fonts you want to override shouldn't be terribly difficult. All of the font definitions are listed at the very top of style.css - so, just pick the ones you want to override, and declare them in your Child Theme's style.css.

    (Thanks for the heads-up; looks like it's loading fine for me now in FF...)

    By the way: please be sure to use this link to add support topics, or else be sure to tag your topic with "oenology", so that I get pinged. :) I just happened to notice this one.

    Your site still looks broken to me .. it shows for a bit, maybe to load the entire page, then it goes to this link ..
    http://pdfforge.mybrowserbar.com/cgi/errors.cgi?q=http://www.chipbennett.net/&type=dns&ISN=6A69528202BD44B59150491938308D5D&ccv=137&cnid=827316&cco=US&ct=3&sc=500

    Now my REAL reason to write .. Do you have a copy of styles.css? I had a script malfunction while editing thru a browser (the irony is that I didn't change anything, just clicked save before I closed the edit screen). Now my site has a whacked upper menu bar, whic is I guess coding at the bottom of the styles.css file.

    Sorry .. never mind .. I got the full theme via zip on github.

    But you still want to look into your site problem.
