i have uploaded my theme but it is not listed under the Presentation>Themes tab...what's the deal?

Posted 3 years ago #yes, it's there...here's what i did...i've used this theme for 2 years now...i just created a new theme, uploaded that and it didn't look right...wanted to go back to my old theme and it was no longer listed...looked at my directory and it is there...uploaded again, and nothing...it's able to be edited, just not selected...

subtitle 1.0 by me
subtitle theme
All of this theme’s files are located in wp-content/themes/subtitle.however, this is the theme i wanna use but it's not available..i'm actually using the default theme and not the subtitle theme i used for the previous 2 years...

Posted 3 years ago #this is not a new theme..this is an old theme i've used for a long time...tried changing themes and going back (in all of about 2 mins) and it is no longer listed....

Did your newly created theme have the same theme info comment in its style.css as did your old theme (a bad thing), or did you change it?

Posted 3 years ago #nope, it was different...for testing this theme i called it new_theme and not subtitle...and the description was completely different...i can get the new_theme to show up, even now...i can add/remove it many times...but every time i try to load my old theme via ftp, the files go over and they are listed in the edit menu...but not in the selection menu....

Did your old theme and new theme have the same directory name (also a bad thing)? Why would you have to reupload your old theme? It should have still been your website's themes folder.

Posted 3 years ago #nope...directories were /themes/new_theme and /themes/subtitle
i uploaded the files again thinking it may have been corrupted somehow...it is telling me i'm using the theme but i'm not, so something was screwed up...that's the only reason i loaded the files again....

Try switching to the default theme, viewing your site, and then going back to Dashboard -> Design. Also try emptying your browser cache.

Posted 3 years ago #doesn't appear to be cache...i use Firefox solely, so i tried going to IE and change it, and again the theme was not listed there either...

Posted 3 years ago #it's fixed and i can't tell you why...like i said, i was using the Default theme..so i selected classic and it updated the "Current Theme" info...and i looked in my list of available themes and there was my subtitle theme...i selected it and all is well...
i have no idea why it was not showing up, or why it all of a sudden decided to show up...thanks for sticking with me and throwing out suggestions...much appreciated!

Yes, sometimes switching to a different theme and then going back to check the list of available themes can fix/update it back to working again. I tried this once when my custom theme edit and upload went awry.
