• I posted this on wordpress.com first lol

I uploaded a theme I really like. “Motion”, and the software doesn’t recognise it. Usually there’s nothing more to it than uploading the directory.

Could it be that I should update to 2.9.2 or could it be that this theme is for an older version?

  • Where did you get the theme from? Can you provide a link so we can investigate?

If it’s the one in the wordpress repository here, it works fine for me and I’m using 2.9.2

It might me worth activating the default theme. Delete the motion directory and all files inside and then try downloading and installing again.

    I solved the problem.

It’s so embarrassing, I refuse to tell you what I did wrong.

Did you do it to the wrong directory 🙂 ?

I found something strange today. Looks like with wordpress v3.0.3 you need the style.css file and the index.php file inside the custom theme folder to exist for the theme to show up as available.

Can someone at wordpress confirm this?

Make sure that you already put your theme information into your style.css file, and also your theme must has a index.php file.
Please check a default WordPress theme like Twentyten for more information.
    Good luck.
