doe ANYONE know how to overwrite PHP files for wordpress. Just experienced a syntax error now im locked out of my site and can only get to it through http://FTP...however, all files are "read-only" and my attempt to overwrite fails....HELLLPPPPP!

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/content/08/4927508/html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/modularity-lite/functions.php on line 228

is what i get when i try to access my site online...
so i logged in to ftp and found the functions.php file, deleted the addition i made, tried to save it and got
"couldnt save - The file “functions.php” is read-only. Attempt to overwrite? " so i clicked yes

and got this "Couldn’t save document as “functions.php” in folder “modularity-lite”." so i tried saving it to desktop and dragging the new file into the modularity lite folder and got this "

the item "functions.php" can not be moved because modularity-lite can not be modified.

Its for a business and i cant leave with the site down, pleaseee help
