I keep trying to change from the classic theme to a theme on the list of WP Themes. I follow the installation instructions, change the theme in WP. When I "view theme", the new theme appears. BUT once I leave WP and turn off my computer and then return later and type in my url, the original classic theme shows. How can I get the new theme to actually be there?

No real solution to this except to say that your theme may have some illegal (bad) code that causes WordPress to revert to the default theme.
