Theme Installation and Usage

Please, how can I make use of a theme the way it was(as show or seen online) after downloading it. Whenever I download a theme, I won’t see the slideshows as it was shown online(preview) before downloading it. The theme looks empty…the look and feel disappears. Is there any way out for me?
