[resolved] pay to find out how to add the text on the left side of the image (23 posts)

All the support and instruction links just point to a page that says pay 30 dollars to become a member. When asking about adding the text to the top page, as seen in on the theme's sample picture, a person from support said you have to pay 30 dollars to find out. The reply email was really quick though. This is for the free version... Not the Pro version.

This might be a nice theme to use for photographers but charging people to use a plugin that says it is free isn't a good thing in my books. They should just say this plugin costs money instead.

Does anyone know how to add the text to the top page. I guess it is a post but just would like to know how to do it.

    Go to Dashboard>Users>Your Profile>About Yourself>Biographical Info.
That's the place you can add text next to the image.
If you want to edit the text use this plugin:

Glad to be able to help!

I' m using hatch in both of my sites:

    http://antoniskioupliotis.com/

    http://greece-wedding-photography.gr/

the theme is great, but it crops the feature images in a way that I do not like very much...

I'll see if I can help fix that. What size would you like your images?

Developers of free themes submitted to http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ are not obliged to also provide free support. And it is not our place to deprive them of any income that they may derive from support services.

Ohh, τhat would be wonderful, if you can fix it!
what I prefer, is a *no crop* of the feature images.
    The imbalance 2 theme
    http://imbalance2.wpshower.com/
is a pinterest like theme, which let the feature images in the home page *as is*.
    That's all I need Glen :)

  11. @Resourceful Please start your own topic. Your question has nothing to do with this topic.

no jan it has about hatch theme and how to translate the text near the header image...i just foget to mention that i used hatch theme in my website...thank you...

  13. Yes, I got that.

Now as indicated, please start you own topic and not interrupt other people's. Unless you see a qtranslate question in the OP (you don't) then start your own topic.

If you do not want to start it in the qtranslate forum (you really should) then consider doing so in the Hatch theme forum.

    @Resourceful
I do not really understand what the issue is, but you can copy+paste the text instead.
on the other side, this text is part of the header ( as I know), so maybe google keep it out of the translation...
    hope it helps :)

    Hello esmi,

I'm completely for people making money from selling themes and also making money from support services :) I just don't want to spend money on broken or incomplete themes.

Themes that say they are free should be free and themes with service that cost money should be labeled that way. I did a search for free themes and came up with Hatch. It isn't free though.

It also looked like Hatch was broken. The text was missing and there weren't and instructions to do anything. Just links to pay money instead of find instructions or get support.

I have been in this situation before with 2 other plugins but those companies charged money and didn't actually fix the themes they made. Even Adobe didn't fix the line drawing problem/bug in Illustrator CS3 when I bought it and told them about the problem.

At least I know this theme kind of works now. It just has a few bugs that make it unusable in my situation.

I just wanted to write a review on it because it looked nice.

    -----------------

    Hi Resourceful,

You could just include both languages for now. I'll try out qTranslate with the Hatch demo and see if I can figure out what is happening as well on Monday.

I loaded qTranslate but there wasn't anything to switch between the languages on the left side Resourceful. How do I get the icons to switch between languages. It would be very cool if qTranslate works with Hatch.
    ------------------------------
hellasphotography I just removed the cropping sizes from the PHP and it kind of worked. Have you tried that yet? You have to make sure you upload an image with a set size though after removing the crop code. If you don't you might break the layout of the page.

Hatch is absolutely free and its documentation is here: http://alienwp.com/documentation/hatch-theme-documentation/ .

The theme doesn't introduce any non-standard WordPress feature, so anyone familiar with WordPress should have no problems using it. I do agree though, that not that many themes utilize the "Biography" field, so that feature might not be as intuitive. Anyway, the doc should make things more clear.

If Hatch was "broken or incomplete", it wouldn't be hosted on wordpress.org. Updates can be buggy sometimes, of course, but since so many people use the theme, the feedback is immediate and fixes follow shortly.

A theme that doesn't crop the thumbnails is in the works.

Marking the topic as resolved as the original question has been answered.

Thank you for the link to that page Griden. I searched for hours and hours before and never found it. Maybe it just got hidden by Bing or Google (Panda/Penguin) before.

It was impossible to tell if the Theme was broken before as well or just missing setup information because the theme links to a log-in page that says you have to pay to use it and the person I emailed said if I don't pay they wouldn't say if the Theme works. Then after that, even if I pay they won't help. So I wouldn't say absolutely free.

Resourceful let's move this qTranslate question to another post.

    Everything else is okay.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Paid support is optional and is for those who need help setting and using the theme. Plus other extras, of course. But there is nothing preventing you from using theme without paying a dime. It's not "crippleware" or anything like that.

The theme is provided for free, but I simply can't afford to provide free support on top of that. At least not if I want to maintain high quality and remain competitive.

hellasphotography or Griden could you tell me what I am doing wrong? I have sorted everything out on this theme exactly how I want it, but can't get a menu/widget menu to show at the top of the page like it does in yours and in the preview. It says it is there and I added categories and pages to it as that's what I wanted people to be able to select from it :S also on each individual post, can I remove where it says who posted it, date etc? I don't really want that information on there.

Thank you so much for any help you can offer me :D

    @tayloredcuriosities

you must go to:Appearance>Menus, where is the place you can set this.
First give the menu a xyz name, then sort the pages as you like in the right area of the open window.
    i hope it helps :)

Is there any way to post an image instead of text?

    Thank you!

The theme's author would have more time to spend on issues if new threads were created for different issues and people. This helps keep track of who's having which issue.
