I want to change the words from saying "what's new" to something else. Not sure yet lol but I waould like to know how to change it. Also I hate that drab yellow box that shows up around the text area. If anyone could let me know the code and then also where to put it and in what folder?

Use a translation file to change the text.

And for the "drab yellow box" around the text area, use a custom.css file along with a tool like Firebug for Firefox to override the existing CSS.
