    Hi

The theme editor link has disappeared from the Appearance menu on the dashboard, so I can't access the PHP files directly.

I'm using the Branford Magazine theme 6.2 Pro which worked fine until I upgraded to WP 3.3.1 (or possibly when I upgraded to 3.3, I had no need to edit the css or PHP files until now, so I did not notice the editor was missing).

I have not upgraded the Branford Magazine theme and it does not have an automatic theme upgrade.

I see you haven't gotten any help yet. I'm having the same problem. Plugins editor has also disappeared. I have the Liquorice theme and am the admin user. I'm using an older version of Safari.

    Hopefully someone can help.

I emailed my theme designer, since I got no replies on here. He could not help but advised that he does not use the Editor feature on WordPress and he recommended that I use a proper PHP editor.

So now I just use my FTP client and edit the files I need using the excellent free NaviCoder editor http://www.navicoder.com/

I then just upload the files back into my WordPress folder.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately, I'm a novice and have no idea how to use a PHP editor. The theme editor from WordPress was perfect for my needs. I've tried switching to different themes, but still have the same problem.

This must not be a widespread problem, but I'm still hoping someone can help.

    Hi there

If you're ok using the theme editor within WordPress, then there's not much of a difference using a standalone PHP editor.

All you do is use FTP to download a copy the theme editor file from the theme folder in your host's folder to your hard drive. (You can do this through cPanel as well).

Make a copy of the file and place it somewhere else in the drive (in case your edited copy goes wrong). Open the PHP editor, load in the file and edit it. Save it, then simply upload the modified file via FTP to the theme folder, overwriting the original.

It's sad that you're not getting much of a response to your query. I've noticed a few posts going unanswered these days.

    Good luck
