[resolved] Theme editor - files won't save (6 posts)

I notice that many other people have theme editor issues. I’m also having trouble with the theme editor. I can tinker in Firebug to my heart’s content, get the css the way I’d like, but when I drop it into the theme editor and save it, it doesn’t seem to “take”. The css is still right there in my style.css so it’s clearly been saved, but it doesn’t translate into changes on the screen. I just get presented with my old template no matter how many times I clear my cache. I have also tried to FTP and copy over the style.css file but the problem doesn't seem to be with the file appearing in the editor itself but with it moving on from there and showing on the blog.

I’m looking for solutions now but I’m glad I’m not the only person that’s having this trouble. I hope 2.9.1 fixes this. As so many others seem to have the same problem, I'm sure a fix will be in the works.

This isn't a WordPress issue but a caching problem. Are you running any caching plugins?

it's not a caching problem, as the cache has been cleared out. I had also disabled it to see if that was the problem.

I finally managed to get it fixed, by overwriting my theme-editor.php file. Hopefully, that should help a few other people that have been looking for a solution

Hey this sounds like the same problem i'm having, i can overwrite via ftp but the wp theme editor doesnt actually change the file. How do you overwrite the theme-editor.php file, like where is it?

I've had the same problem using the theme editor in the WordPress platform. I make changes, but don't get a "changes made" screen, just a blank screen.

Would love to know how evilgrin overrode the theme-editor.php file.

via FTP, from a clean copy of the wordpress folder, overwrite theme-editor.php. It should fix itself almost immediately
