Theme does not validate

    I had an error so I headed to validator.w3.org. It finds lots of errors on a simple front page, like:
    Bad value X-UA-Compatible for attribute http-equiv on element meta.
    <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=edge,chrome=1″>

    Element hgroup not allowed as child of element header in this context. (Suppressing further errors from this subtree.)
    <hgroup class=”left-header fl”>

    any suggestions (apart from not validating)?
