Theme disables read more (5 posts)

    My theme display's post excerpts and displays a default read more. So it will display just a small portion of the post then put a read more button. But when the post already has a read more in it (when manually added in post editor), it disables the theme's default read more, so there is no read more button at all. You can see what I mean by going to http://69.89.31.103/~clubpen7 - the first post DOES NOT have a read more in it, so you can see the theme added the orange [ Read More ] button. However, the post below it HAS a read more already in it, and that disables the default theme read more AND the manually added read more.

    I tried removing the strand of code that adds the default read more, but when I add a read more in the post editor it still doesn't show up.

    So basically my problem is if I put a read more in a post, my theme disables it.

    Sorry if that's a little confusing, it's hard to describe my problem in a post.

    Need help ASAP,
    Thanks in advance!

    can you post that code section?
    if it is longer than 10 lines, please paste the code section or, even better, the code of the whole template into a http://pastebin.com/ and post the link to it here.

    Here is the strand from the theme functions file:

    function new_excerpt_more($more) {
    return 'ID) . '">' . '  [ Read More ]' . '';
    }
    add_filter('excerpt_more', 'new_excerpt_more');

    Here is the link to the entire style.css: http://pastebin.com/QrEaBKYY

    And here is the link to the entire theme functions file: http://pastebin.com/VSq94AA6

    Thanks.

    have you by any chance a handwritten excerpt for the post with the 'more tag'?
    handwritten excerpts are displayed without the 'read more'.

    if not, this behaviour might be caused by some plugin interference.
    try and disable all plugins and see if that solves the problem.

    No, all of the excerpts on the website were automatically populated.

    I just tried deactivating all plugins (the only ones I have are Jetpack, Akismet and WP Page Navi) but that still didn't seem to fix the problem.
