Support » Themes and Templates » where to edit sidebar

    Hi everyone:

I have a WordPress site with 3 categories.

I want to edit the Customizr theme’s sidebar to display recent posts in the current category only.

I have been searching all night long and cannot find any sidebar.php file. There’s a class-content-sidebar.php file, but all it does is call dynamic-sidebar (‘ right ‘) and I am having absolutely no luck on where this call goes to in the code to edit.

Is anyone able to point me to the correct file/method I need to edit so I can display recent posts from the current category only?

    Thank you!

  • Please post in the theme’s own forum:

    Thank you for the suggestion.

If you didn’t post the link, how would I have found that specific url? It’s not on the main page:

    Support Forums

When I click on “Forums” under “Support”, all I see that’s relevant is “Themes and Templates” which is the category I clicked on to post this originally.

    Find your theme here:

    http://wordpress.org/themes/

Go to the theme page – then click on the Support tab – scroll down to post on that sub-forum.

    Thank you for the info.

That’s not very intuitive though in terms of navigation. As a suggestion, is it possible on the http://wordpress.org/support url to put a specific “sticky” or note telling people if there’s something specific to their theme to do just that?

I say this because people seeking support on WordPress I think will naturally go to the support section for the forums, and then click on the category most appropriate like I did.

It is described in the Forum Welcome:

The barely-visible search box at top-right on this page could also be use for something like “Customizr Support”:

I’m just saying as a non technical user and complete newbie to WordPress, what are they going to do?

    1) Go to WordPress website
    2) Click on the support link
    3) Click on forums
    4) Find the forum that’s appropriate for the issue they’re having. In my case, it was “themes and templates”
    5) Maybe do a quick search (which I did…searched on “customizr” and “sidebar” of which nothing relevant came up)
    6) Post issue
    7) Wait for hopefully quick follow up and response

When a user sees a forum entitled “themes and templates”, they’re not going to stop and ask, “gee, even though I’m having an issue with a theme and am in the “themes” forum, I wonder if there’s a sub-forum even though zero subforums are listed on the forum listing page”.

There actually IS a sticky post at the top of the “Themes and Templates” forum?

If you have a question about a specific theme, then we suggest visiting that theme in the Extend section first, and then using the “Write a New Topic” link from there to make your post. This has the effect of tagging the post with that theme’s name, making it more visible to the author and making it more clear what your post is about. You’re more likely to get a response to a specific theme related question in this way.
