    Good day,
I have been reading about tweaking the css files to fit my template but have not been able to. Please help us. Our site is at http://www.breakawayspeedsoftball.com/16u
How can I get the single player page fit our template? Thank you very much for all you do.
    Regards

    Hi Victor,
I just looked at your site and the single player seems to be fitting okay. What are you trying to do? What theme are you using?

BTW, if you use the Coaching Staffs plugin instead of the Team Rosters plugin for the coaches I think you will get better results.

    Mr. Mark,
Thank you kindly for your speedy response. I do not think the page is working at all. When we click on the player's name to load the individual player's profile, bio etc. It expands to the entire screen. I tried editing the css file but could not make it to work. The template we use is the Moderm Template by Shape5.com.
I will take your recommendation to use the coaches plugin. Thanks again.

    Hi Victor,
Oh, okay. Sorry, I was focused on the plugin itself.

So you want it to look like the roster page -- header, right nav bar, etc. Right? I'll look tonite but at first glance I'd say you might need an edit or two in the template.

    Mr. Mark,
Thank you very much. I appreciate it. FYI, we run quite a bit of sport pages using Joomla, and your plugin has been the reason we are moving to WordPress. The plugin is solid and extremely valuable for what we do. This website is the first one we do using wordpress and will be the showcase for more to come and hopefully the migration of many from joomla.
    Thanks again.

    Hi Victor,
No worries, glad you are finding the plugins useful. Please subscribe to our newsletter to keep up with all the latest releases.

I looked at your website in a bit more depth. Unfortunately, I can't fix it for you without getting into the theme templates. Something is going on that I can't figure out from the HTML. If you would like to give me admin access to your site, please contact me at mark@shoalsummitsolutions.com. (DON'T put any of your website information in this forum!) If you don't want to give me admin access, I COMPLETELY understand and am not at all offended. But in that case I'm not going to be able to help you with the interaction between the plugin pages and your theme.

    Regards,
    -Mark

    Hi Victor,
I saw your last post but it's not shown here for some reason. (??)

I did take a deeper dive into your site and your theme is interesting. I can't tell if these are"Joomla" guys who started with a Joomla template and don't understand the conventions of writing a WordPress theme, or if they are trying to obfuscate the theme to make it harder for others to adapt. The single-player.php template is not working properly largely because they have chosen to ignore some WP basics. In addition there were some directories like includes that I could not see from the WP admin page's editor. Moreover, a number of the standard templates that I would expect to see - single.php, page.php, category.php, archive.php, comments.php - are missing. So I'm not quite sure how the theme is handling the WP template hierarchy.

I believe I can patch the single-player.php template so it will work in your them but:
    (a) I don't want to mess with your existing templates, so you will have to set me up with a FTP account so I can do some patching and testing of single-player.php, and
    (b) you'll be on your own to update this template with any new release of Team Rosters.

If you don't want to go that route, I suggest you go to a more "WP standards compliant" theme or don't use the single-player.php template.

    Regards,
    -Mark

I am talking about an FTP account. Not a WordPress account. Got that.

    Mr. Mark,
Unfortunately the server does not provide access to port 21. I could probably zip the template files and send them out your way. And yes the company started as a Joomla template force, and not long ago opened the WordPress division (Less than a year).
How can I patch that file myself? Just to keep track for future updates? Thank you very much for all you do.
    Regards
    Victor

Okay. So if I were to send you a patch file, how would you get it up to your site? Replace it in the plugin then reload the entire plugin? If that's the case, your server is not going to allow any serious customization of the plugins and themes; you are going to have to live with the base versions. If you want to customize, I would reconsider my hosting service options and my theme if I were you. I've never heard of a WordPress hosting service that doesn't allow FTP.

As for as zipping me the theme, I'm not going to load your theme onto my server unless you want to hire me to fix the issue for you. Sorry, but I just don't have the time to dig into with everyone's environment. The issues usually aren't hard to resolve, it just takes a lot of time to duplicate your environment.

    Regards,
    -Mark

    Mark,
Thank you very much for all your help. Thanks for all you do. You have a great product. In regards to this situation. I will discuss it internally to see what route to take. Thanks for your recommendations also.
    Best,
    Victor
