Need help with the logo on the homepage. (8 posts)

    I need help with the logo on the homepage. I want the logo to show on the other pages but not on the home page. Is there any way I can do this? I've tried to change the code but when I remove the logo, it is also removed on all pages. I just want it to be removed only in the home page.

    Any help will be appreciated!

    Have you a Child Theme or Custom Style/CSS plugin?

    I don't have any. I just used the editor in the theme options to try and remove the logo on the home page only. I haven't created a CSS file or installed any plugins regarding those.

    I just want it to be removed only in the home page.

    You can achieve this within header.php or using CSS.

    Solved using header.php
    You could set a Conditional statement around the logo, only to display if not the home page.
    Requires a Child Theme

    Solved using CSS
    You could apply a style, such as display: none, using the selector of the home page to hide the logo.
    Requires a Custom Style/CSS plugin

    Thanks a lot Andrew! The image on the home page is gone. I still have a long road to get used to this kind of codes :)

    You may have some spacing/layout issues if you simply delete the default logo image from the home page. There is a default image for the header located at /colorway/images/logo.png. If you would like to:

    1) edit that image to remove the text, or recolor it match the background color of #FFFFFF (white, obviously) :-)

    2) then upload your own logo from the Colorway theme options page, making sure that the dimensions are exactly the same as the default logo Then...

    3) in header.php change line 61 from this:

    <div class="logo"> <a href="<?php echo home_url(); ?>"><img src="<?php if (inkthemes_get_option('colorway_logo') != '') { ?><?php echo inkthemes_get_option('colorway_logo'); ?><?php } else { ?><?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/logo.png<?php } ?>" alt="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>" /></a> </div>

    ..to this

    <div class="logo"> <a href="<?php echo home_url(); ?>"><img src="<?php if ( is_page() && inkthemes_get_option('colorway_logo') != '') { ?><?php echo inkthemes_get_option('colorway_logo'); ?><?php } else { ?><?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/logo.png<?php } ?>" alt="<?php bloginfo('name'); ?>" /></a> </div>

    I think that should leave the logo on the home page blank, and place your logo on every other page, while maintaining even layout on all pages without any additional style sheet or file editing.

    Caveats:

    a) You need to be aware that if you update the Colorway theme in the future, the file will be overwritten and your changes lost. Be prepared for this, by making sure you have backups and notes about how to restore the changes in a new version of the theme.

    b) As always, nothing is foolproof. Make sure you have all the theme files backed up in case something goes wrong during editing. You can try this if you like, and I know it's a bit "hacky", but it's quick, and achieves the result you want with a minimum amount of effort/editing while still maintaining the spacing in the header.

    [edit] Haha! Never mind, I'm slow... Looks like you already got it! :-)
