• A purchased theme broke the Themes area of the WP admin.

This theme claims to use something called “Turbo Editor” to consolidate editing. I half suspect that this Turbo Editor made changes to the WP files themselves and either it is not compatible with the current version of WP or there is just a serious flaw in the theme in the first place.

    – Two Error messages in the header on Themes admin page (see first error box).
    – I cannot change theme to anything else (see second error quoted below).

  • You should be able to deactivate that theme by using FTP to deactivate the theme –

    wp-content
        themes
           ftfHOLD

You’ll have to ask the developer/vendor about the problem, though, as commercial themes aren’t supported here.

Just deleting the theme would work?

It should, but if you care about using it still, make a back-up first.

Above assumes you have a copy of twentytwelve or twentythirteen in the themes folder?

The install came with both default themes.

Ok, the purchased theme has been removed (theme folder deleted) but the interface still won’t let me switch themes. It defaulted to the 2013 theme, but when I try to change to 2012 I get the same error as before.

And now under Customize it flashes the interface and then pulls up a page that says simply “Cheatin’ uh?”
The Customize interface was working fine before…
