    hi
I would like to remove the navigation or admin bar, but when I do I lose my sidebar. All I would like to do is lose the page names as there is many. I have tried to find where I can update the home page but cannot, I would like to edit it or install a new home page thanks for reading

  • have you tried header.php?

I’m currently modifying the same theme…i was able to move the page links to the top.

I also am searching to get rid of the top WP banner but haven’t found that yet- since I just started playing around with wp

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. Create a child theme for your changes.

@esmi- I copied the entire theme & am modifying another version of it

Look at lines 84 – 97 of header.php in the original theme. They are the lines that you need to remove.

I’m referring to the WP admin bar. Is there a way to disable it?

Admin -> Users -> Your Profile. Uncheck “Show Toolbar when viewing site”. Save your changes.

    Thank you!

I thought it was some fancy shmancy snippet of code or something…

Nope. The core devs like to keep any fancy shmancy code changes out of the Admin area. 🙂
