Ok, easiest solution for me was to just call remove_filter for now... but why does the_excerpt have autop() and wpautop() in its filter list? This is in the 2004-02-20 nightly build.

Ahhhh ok. There hasn't been a new nightly since the 24th, and people were complaining about timestamp stuff from that build so I'm not upgrading until the next nightly :)
