Hello,
I put up a blog late last night using Fantastico (1st time)(hostgator is my hosting service). the Domain name is registered with Godaddy.
This morning the blog is up and running but instead of http://www.goldenslippernyb.com I have http://goldenslipper.com (no WWW)
Can someone point me in the right direction.

Talk to your web-host, and take a look at the file named .htaccess in the root folder of your server. It could be that your host (like mine) automatically redirects http://www.domain away to http://domain, (, for example) in which case there may be nothing you can do. Alternatively, it could be a setting in the .htaccess file I mentioned before. If it is the latter, you should be able to change it. Your web-host should be able to help you with that!
This has nothing to do with your wordpress installation.
And further ... exactly WHY is this a "problem"?

I think it can be seen as a problem - a lot of people have come to expect the www. before an address.
That is not a problem - nor is it a WP problem. It's a learning experience. It also saves typing.
The things people complain about are mind-numbing ....
