This is in reference to THIS WEBSITE.

I installed the Maintenance plugin two days ago. It works and looks great. I entered in some custom text, which immediately displayed.

Today I pulled up the site in a different browser and noticed the next had been replaced with the default text. I went to the plugin in my WP dashboard and noticed it had definitely been removed.

Several people have viewed the site in maintenance mode to see the fun message I wrote. It was working fine, and now for some reason it was wiped clean.

Also, you know the default WP toolbar that shows up when you’re viewing your site as the active user? You can go to your profile settings and uncheck the box so it doesn’t show up. I did that as soon as I started working on this site.

Today the toolbar showed up again. I didn’t change a thing. Since I was having problems with the plugin, I decided to deactivate it, and sure enough the toolbar is now hidden, as it should be.

I reactivated the plugin and put my site in maintenance mode, and the toolbar shows up when I’m viewing the site. This is so aggravating. Why is it doing this?

I don’t know how long it takes to get help. I really don’t want this site active, since it’s full of placeholders and not at all representative of my work yet. I don’t want prospective clients to see it. But a designer I respect says Maintenance is the only plugin she uses, so I wanted to post here and see if I can get some help.

    Thanks!

I figured out why the text was removed.

I deactivated the plugin so someone could help me with something. Deactivating remove any text. My other plugin didn’t do that. Sometimes you need to go in and out of maintenance mode during a project.

Is there a way to keep the text so it doesn’t reset the default settings like that?

As for the toolbar, I can’t figure that one out. I’m kind of in a rush and need to go back to my other plugin and remove this one. But I would love to use this one again, if you can help understand how to get it to keep my text, and also address the toolbar problem.

    Thank you.

    northstatehillbilly,

You can use switcher maintenance – ON/OFF without deactivating plugin.
Try to check plugin options “admin bar – show adin bar”
