My site has suddenly become this message:

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at mysql1.myregisteredsite.com. This could mean your host's database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

What? Everything is fine on my hosts end. What's going on?

I would say something is wrong with the database server, but since you state the server is OKAY, then you have something wrong in your wp-config.php (e.g. DB_HOST or DB_NAME or DB_USER or DB_PASSWORD).

Double check your wp-config.php file. Maybe it got corrupted for some reason...
