    Hi People,

I am new with the wordpress and I tried to change my theme.
I follow everything from the manual.

After I upload my theme into my wordpress theme folder.
I login to my wordpress account. I checked it on the theme panel, it still doesn't show up.

    so, i am confuse.
    what should i do then?

    your probably have folders nested.

    you should be having
    http:// your website /wp-content/themes/themefolder/style.css

    and not

    http:// your website /wp-content/themes/themefolder/themefolder/style.css

    Check it.

    okay guys,

I am still having problem with this thing.

I checked so many times and I am sure that my folder is not nested because when I clicked to the wp-content
and then I click to the themes folder (there is two folders called default and classic at there) so I just uploaded my new theme folder at there.

Still, amazingly, there is nothing change in my presentation panel :(

    Any other advices ?

My only suspicion is (despite you stating the contrary) you are not uploading the themes to the proper location.
What themes are uploaded and not showing up? Give some theme-folder names.

I uploaded The Simpla theme from here http://ifelse.co.uk/simpla

I unzipped the folder and put it whole folder at the Themes folder where is there are two other folder themes at there (Default and Classic)

I hate when people don't read what I ask: FOLDER NAME for the uploaded theme on your server! folder name..., nothing else.

Assuming the theme is in a folder called "simpla: you tell me, why
    http://www.rio-p.com/blog/wp-content/themes/classic/style.css
    is there...

    http://www.rio-p.com/blog/wp-content/themes/default/style.css
    is there...

    but http://www.rio-p.com/blog/wp-content/themes/simpla/style.css
    is NOT there. Why?

    sorry about that.

The folder is right there when I looked in my FTP Client Software but again when I checked in the presentation panel or at http://www.rio-p.com/blog/wp-content/themes/simpla/style.css
    is NOT there.

Thats the one makes me confuse

    chevelleZ,

a screenshot of what you see with your ftp client would help heaps here.

Double check the permissions on the simpla folder, compare the default theme to the simpla one to make sure.

Also, I'll add, that despite my daily FTPing of WordPress files, I inadvertently spent about 45 minutes today trying to figure out a similar issue. I then realized that I was in fact uploading the files to the wrong directory on the domain. I mean I tried a different FTP client, a dozen themes, nothing seemed to work. Then to my embarrassment, I was uploading to an install of WP at the root of the domain, and not the subdomain that I was navigating to in my browser, and intended for the theme to be. Moral of story, double check the path in your FTP.

.. and make sure you are NOT uploading to WWW .. thats a symlink thats there for the sake of the server, not for uploading.

I dont have a clue what the problem is, even after looking at those images, BUT, if you want, I will happily check your ftp for you. THAT or you can contatct the folks at install4free.

If you want me to look, email me at whoo AT(spammy-spam) village-idiot.org

Obviously you'll need to remove that spammy-spam and use the @ sign.

so you know what was wrong :)

notice how right after you ftp in that you have a folder named html -- thats a symlink to your www folder. If you look in there, youll see thats where ive uploaded the theme to. Its a buggy thing that some hosts do.. using symlinks and such, when you think you ought to just do what you did.

I actually would have noticed this when i looked at your images except that the left hand side of that first image is slightly cropped off.

dont forget to mark this resolved too :)
