   Hi - just a brief plug for my newish blog: http://www.biglittleg.com/blog. You can watch it's rather painful evolution. Still getting the hang of php, plug-ins, etc. Comments welcome.

   I'm not usually a fan of the darker backgrounds because it's usually hard on the eyes. Your choice of colours however work out just fine. Really makes your photos "pop". Looking good!

   I have my monitor set slightly less bright than most of us (I think), and I can hardly read the normal text. Only the links and the images.

   The rest is OK I guess, but I would also prefer a brighter background.

   Thanks - I've been thinking of fiddling with the background. Agreed dark themes have a tendency to wear your eyes out faster.

   The font is too dark for the dark background...either lighten the font or lighten the background. You have a lot of content, but nobody will read it if it hurts the eyes. I disabled the css in my browser and it's much easier to read.

   Thanks - I've brightened things up. Now stuck on losing that header image. I've got a gif I'm trying to put in there, but I can't seem to get it working (after searching archives and following instructions on various CSS help sites).

   If you want to put that image in the header throught css (background-image) you have to give the h3 an exact size throught css. Did you do that? Sometimes I make the mistake of first having a jpg with a certain name, and than changing it into a gif, but forgetting to change the extension in the css...

   Okay - I've got it. Many thanks for that. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to make the entire header a link. At the moment, I've got a clickable link going through the header, near the top.

   I'm grateful for all the help here. It's been fun, and needless to say challenging, getting the site to look more like the way I'd like it to.

    Your tips have been very helpful. I'm still stuck on making the header a link. I can't seem to shake that clickable underline in the header. Tips?

    I'm going to take a contrary view to those expressed above: light text on a dark background is easier on the eyes. In the word processor I use, I keep a dark background with white text, 'cause I can stare at it for a lot longer without eye fatigue. Most sites that use dark backgrounds don't have a light enough text. Yours looks "awesome" to me.

    Obviously, your left column needs work, portions of it disappear under what is right now the first article's photo. Perhaps you could look at the unordered list and change or remove the bullets. It looks like you've already done that on the right.

    Interesting, I just refreshed the page from 20 minutes ago ... I stopped to read some of your content ... and that left column is fixed. Good job!

    Good to see some sporting debate here. I was fiddling with things, hence the earlier issue with images overlapping. Now fixed the header so it is a clickable image. That'll teach me to work with an established template. Now to trim the header a bit and it's good to go.

    Thanks again for comments and help. It's a great forum.

    a hover over your header image causes a line to appear on the left side....

    White text on a black background increases eye strain. A google search will produce several results on this topic.

    However, your background is not black, so it's easy on the eyes. I just wanted to respond to the above comments.

    Phil - sorted, thanks for pointing it out.

    Also wondering if there's a plug-in that would list recent audio/video links (sort of like a list of most recent posts). I'd like to add that to the left column if possible.
