As of WP 3.9, TinyMCE Ultimate no longer works. In fact it’s very, very broken. The only choice for similar functionality (especially embedding) seems to be Josh Lobe’s new WP Edit Pro for US$35.

    Anyone found an alternative?

I do apologize for some of the features only being available in Pro.

In the free version of WP Edit, all of the default WordPress buttons are there.. as well as all of the default tinymce buttons that WordPress removes by default. They are all available, exactly as they are from tinymce and WP.

The ones in the Pro version are ones I’ve had to re-create manually, from the ground up. Many of the addons provided in Ultimate Tinymce were provided by 3rd party, open-source, developers.. which is why I added them to the free version of Ultimate Tinymce.

Unfortunately, none of these addons were updated for the tinymce version 4. So using them breaks the editor. The ones included in Pro are the ones that I’ve manually re-coded to be compatible with both the new version of Tinymce and the new version of WordPress.

    Regarding alternatives…
    1. I know Tinymce Advanced is a popular alternative.
    2. I know there are editors called “CKEditor” available as WP plugins.
    3. I know there are other premium content editors.. just Google for theme.

    Hope this helps.

PS: Thanks for the awesome rating 🙂
