   Hi,

   My understanding is that the function bloginfo('name') returns the value of the variable 'name.' Where is that value stored? My impression is that this is the source of the header text that is set during installation, and I opted not to name the blog so my header text is blank and I want to insert text into the header.

   Is this the right path to change the header text in the absence of an option to do so in the Appearance dialog?

   you can set this in 'settings' 'general' 'site title'
