Online Backup for WordPress
"The encryption details specified were incorrect" (2 posts)

I'm testing to see if this plugin works for one of my websites, however whenever I try to decrypt a backup I just get the following error message:

The backup could not be decrypted; the encryption details specified were incorrect.

I have ensured that I am using the correct encyption key, as I am simply copying and pasting it. Not only that, but my upload limit on my server is 4MB and the file I am trying to upload is only 400KB.

The 'Encryption Type' is set to AES128.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi pealo86,

When you say you are copying and pasting. Where from exactly?
We know that Outlook when copying and pasting things from emails can be a nasty pest and add space characters to the end, so when you paste it instead of "encryptionkey" you get "encryptionkey<space>" and this is taken literally by the plugin (some people seem to use spaces in their key so we can't trim them off.)

This will be one reason why it could report that. Try typing it in yourself.

Make sure the encryption type matches what you choose during backup too. If you chose AES256, make sure that you choose AES256 in the decrypt screen.
Also note that the "case" of the key is important too. "Key" is not the same as "key".

    Jason.
