   Hey Brad,

   I am super new to migrating sites (and to be honest, WP in general). I am trying to build a site on Desktop Server http://serverpress.com/products/desktopserver/ and under Tools it is saying that the "directory /volumes/....../ needs to be writable. I have the current file path set to an external hard drive where I have the site saved.

   Any ideas?

   I should clarify that I am seeing this message under "Tools" -> WP Migrage DB

   Looks like you need to change the permissions on that folder so that WP Migrate DB can write the exported database to it.
