    Hi,

Looking at the fact it is trying to access htdocs/logs/traffic.html/.md5sums it looks as if you have enabled the "Backup the WordPress parent directory".

This option is NOT intended to be used to backup non-http documents. It is only intended to be used when your WordPress resides in a sub-directory. It looks as if your web-site does not reside in a sub-directory so it's actually backing up non-http documents, such as traffic logs and such. This will always generate errors.

Best to disable that option unless you absolutely need those things backed up, and if you leave it enabled just ignore those errors.

We will be improving the setting to explain permission denied will happen if WordPress is not in sub-directory, and to detect if you are in sub-directory or not so it can give accurate information to you on what will happen. We'll also be improving the error reporting so it displays a more friendly message for permission denied.

Onto the other error, DSCF3974.JPG, if you run the backup multiple times does it do the same error? Looking at the message it had backed up 655MB of data and then when it tried to backup more it could only write a small amount of data and rest was rejected. This usually means you have exceeded your hosts disk quota. Best to exclude some data so the backup size stays small and doesn't go over your hosts disk quota. Unfortunately there is no way for us to detect your quota so the backup will run until it fails.

If you have any questions or need more information let me know.

    Thanks!

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

    Thanks for your answer.
No, I have not activated the backup of the parent directory.
And the error messages I sent were the result of the second attempt.
About 1 hour before I already started the first attempt wihtout success with the following messages:

9th Dez 2012 9.09.56 AM Error The backup failed: A filesystem operation failed.
    9th Dez 2012 9.09.56 AM Error A filesystem operation failed while processing 'Filesystem/homepages/39/d246908993/htdocs/alt/intern/Download/Noten/Dana dana.pdf' (1751718) for backup.
If the following error message is not clear as to the problem and the issue persists, please contact support providing the complete event log for the activity. Diagnostic information follows:

    Failed at: 1371(/homepages/39/d246908993/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup/include/files.php)
Attempt to write to file /homepages/39/d246908993/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup/tmp/backup.data.2.php only partially succeeded. Only 1449633 of 1744896 bytes were written. (315674928 bytes already written.) PHP last error: No error message was logged.
9th Dez 2012 9.07.55 AM Error File /homepages/39/d246908993/htdocs/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/10062012088.mp4 was skipped: Two separate attempts to process the file caused the backup to time out. The file is most likely very large, and therefore difficult to process. The file size is: 119.58 MiB.
9th Dez 2012 8.46.55 AM Error File /homepages/39/d246908993/htdocs/logs/traffic.html/.md5sums was skipped: An error happened at: stream_delta.php(472)
file_get_contents(/homepages/39/d246908993/htdocs/logs/traffic.html/.md5sums) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: Permission denied

I didn't exceed my host disk quota, I think. But the file I tried to backup is really very large. Can I exclude This file? And is the size the only reason for the flop?

    Ah I see,

The traffic logs for your host are on your public HTML folder. That is very very strange.

Large files can very well cause this. On General Settings you can enter the path to exclude them if you are OK to not back them up. In the case of the mp4 file above you could enter:
    wp-content/uploads/2012/06/10062012088.mp4

    This would exclude it.

We have seen some issues with certain servers with remote storage having similar but not exactly same issue, so you could try out our next version which will be released soon:
    https://wordpress.backup-technology.com/wponlinebackup-438.zip
Download this, uninstall and delete existing plugin (warning - it will delete your configuration, so write down any encryption keys etc.) then install this downloaded one, and set it up again. Then you can try a backup and it does attempt to work around some issues with some remote storage.

Failing that, just exclude some of the larger files you don't need to backup and it should work fine.

    Regards,

    Jason

Now I excluded the folder with the traffic logs and also the big mp4-file.
Then I tried to backup my blog without installing the neqw release you proposed. Result: The backup is ready without any problems except 2 warnings I got already during the other attempts:
    ================
10th Dez 2012 1.42.09 PM Warning Table 'wp_term_relationships_img' has no PRIMARY or UNIQUE key! Backup of this table may be inconsistent; some rows could get missed. See FAQ for more information.
10th Dez 2012 1.42.07 PM Warning Table 'wp2_term_relationships_img' has no PRIMARY or UNIQUE key! Backup of this table may be inconsistent; some rows could get missed. See FAQ for more information.
    ================

This will be able to cause any problems?
If not - Thank you for your speedy reaction and solving my problems!

    Regards,

    Hadisa

    Hi Hadisa,

Those errors shouldn't cause any issues. It is a plugin that has created some strange tables that don't have any unique row references.

Worst case is the plugin will need reinstalling and will have to re-generate the data. So nothing to worry about really.

    Jason.
