Hi! I'd love to get some feedback on what people think of this layout. I've been enjoying working with WordPress but thankfully, I've got help customizing as it often went way over my head.

My favourite new feature is the shoutbox :)

What do you guys think of it?

    Very ... uhh ... pink.

I am not a big fan of boxes - why don't you simply remove the lines and the white boxes of your posts and put them on a light pink background?

I figured someone would find it too pink ;)

I'm still debating between the boxes or no boxes and just an overall frame like I used to have. I guess I'll have to experiment some more.

As for the shoutbox, it's a one-off creation by my husband. Who knows, it might become a WP Plugin at some point ;)

I don't think it's too pink at all. It must just be a matter of preference, but I think it looks great. I love pink, though ;-)

Why does it take forever to load ? That's a bummer...

Other than that, there is no need to mention Wp at the bottom, almost everything reflects the standard layout of WP (except the colors of course). I don't mind the colors though.

What, you don't like pink, Moxie? ;-)

Oh, I also wanted to mention the slow loading, but I thought, perhaps, it was my computer considering it came over on the ark.

Yes, your site is very very slow.. and although I am on dial up, it is extremely slow even for dial up. I would definitely look into that

By everyones post I was expecting a pepto-bismol looking site and rather disappointed that it wasnt as pink as I was thinking it was going to be. Yes, I am a girl, and yes pink rocks (Still trying to convince my husband that our mustang would look sweet if it were hot bubblegum pink with black and white pinstripping, but he thinks I'm nuts :/ )

Anyway, I would try blending colors a little more. Although, colors dont have too much, just seems there is too much of it. There are 3 shades of pink, a blue and a teal which the teal doesnt compliment the blue and then it makes the pink look off...I dont know..

And about the Mona Lisa pic, it should be one week after in LA, not the US. LA is silicone capital.. and I am not talking computers. :) Still a funny pic though

I was having problems with the site speed yesterday (bloody Hostmatix!) but that's been resolved so that was a very temporary issue. Usually it's much faster!

Buffy: I agree about the colours... the grey date tab is the first thing I want to change to fit in with the rest better. But it's a constantly-evolving process so all comments are appreciated :)

In your Jan 3rd post "Christmas Photos" how do you add the 5-thumbnail-picture at the end of your post ?

Is it manually coded or is the a plug-in ??

    Thanks

hey, great blog. I don't think it's <em>too</em> pink. And I'm a dude. Maybe it's just that I've seen very pink sites, mostly geocities culprits.

Counter intuitive italics? How do you get html code on bbPress?! lol :-S

rvblog: also custom-coded by husband, something else I might get him to consider making into a plugin (if it's possible).

I absolutely love the way that gallery works! Resize pics into thumbs and full size, dump in folder with the same post ID under a specific image section, post and it adds itself to the post.

Nice, gentle look. You seem skilled at graphics (Photoshop?)

Info on the page says it has 182k of images. That takes 36 secs on dial-up. Maybe you could optimize the pics some more?

The shoutbox is an iframe. That sometimes adds to the slowness, too. Works nice! (Couldn't resist trying it out ;-)

Webwiz and dss, sorry guys, I can't explain how the shoutbox and gallery work, as it was done for me! I wish I had the ability to explain how it works in details!

I've shown my husband this thread and he says he may indeed make plugins out of the two features. More people showing interest could be all it takes to ensure he creates it! ;)

Hal - Thanks for the link :) I've also added a link to your blog from mine! I love the look of yours! Peaceful and gorgeous!
