Support » Fixing WordPress » Text Widget keeps disappearing!

  • Hi,
I installed wordpress and have been succesfully posting, but every time I try to use the Text Widget (arbitrary text or html), it disappears each time I click on “edit”. It doesn’t seem to be working at all.
    Any ideas??? I’m desparate…
    Thanks!

    Anyone?

Hi, Which browser are you using? The text widget seems to be on your blog, empty, but there. (view the source or stick it in the xhtml validator it’ll give you 1 error (<ul> unfinished).)

I wonder if some plugin is conflicting with the display of the text widget in the admin section.

Thanks so much! I don’t see it on my blog when I go there, even without being logged in as admin. Strange.

HumanRightsMom, are you by any chance still using 2.5? I’ve been having huge problems with disappearing text in my widgets under 2.5, and this matter has been heavily discussed here:

It says a fix was scheduled for 2.5.1, which has been out a couple weeks but which I still haven’t bothered to install. But now that I’ve once again just lost more than an hour to disappearing widget text, I’m going to take the plunge.

I’m having the exact same issue on this end. It worked initially, but now disappears after selecting edit. What’s the deal?

scratch that, working fine in Firefox. Still can’t edit in explorer, though. Weird!

Thanks, selecta720. I was trying to add a text widget in Internet Explorer and it kept disappearing as soon as I clicked Edit, just like HumanRightsMom. But on your suggestion I tried Firefox and that solved it.

Interestingly, once I created it, I can edit it in I.E.
