• I wasn’t entirely sure what the appropiate title should be.

The problem I have run into is I have copy/pasted text from a pdf to a new ‘page’. When doing so, everything looks aligned and proper but when viewing the actual page it is out of alignment?

The first sentence is stretched out properly but the next line down will only have one word, then, it jumps down and starts a new long sentence line again. It continues on that way throughout the entire document.

How do I get it to look the same way it is when pasted in? Or at least proper for that matter!

    Thanks,

    Roberto

  • Hello Roberto,

I think you will have to past using the “paste to” methods, and not directly into the visual editor. There are two of these buttons in the WYSIWYG, one to paste plaintext, and the other from Word. I would suggest pasting as plaintext and fixing the formatting manually.

    Thank you for the reply.

Sorry to be a newb but where else would I paste it to if not the visual editor?

Also, how do I fix the formatting if I don’t know where to fix it? When I am in edit mode the layout looks proper so I wouldn’t know where the source of the problem starts.

The way to do this is to switch the visual editor to HTML mode, and remove everything that’s not the text.

Things like PDF’s and most especially Word add in a whole bunch of extra tags and code that doesn’t shwo up in visual mode, but bloats out your text and wrecks things without you ever knowing it.

    Gotcha, thanks MM.

Can you suggest a resource that covers the fundamentals for beginners?

There’s no tutorial needed really. Just paste your text into HTML view, then you can switch to Visual view and do what ever editing you need to.
