[resolved] Text and media on every page is automatically linked to feed. (6 posts)

All of the text and media are linked to my rss feed. In other words, when any page loads, all of the elements on the page are automatically linked to my feed page. If you click on any part of the page, it opens up another tab with the rss feed page. This is a real nuisance when I want to link to something else on the page. Every time I click on a link I placed on the page, it loads that link, but it also opens up a new tab with the rss feed page. I have looked everywhere and searched using every description I can think of, and I can't find any info to figure out how to DISABLE THE AUTOMATIC LINK. I am no expert on WordPress, but I have some html and php experience. How can I disable this automatic linking on EVERY page I create? I have thoroughly checked every setting on the site, no luck. I feel it has to do with the page template, but can't figure out what document to edit. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have wasted almost two days trying to figure this out. I am at my wits end.. Thank-You.

    Example: http://thelocalthunder.com

Just click on any page in the main block, and you will see the problem.

Try switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

I reset the theme to the Twenty Ten theme, and the problem disappears. So now I know it is a theme-specific problem. Thank-You! Now I just need to figure out which of the dozens of php and css files is placing the link on the pages, and remove that specific code.. Any suggestions on where I should start looking for the mystery code? It is a needle in a haystack for me..

    Start with index.php.

The index lead me to a template.xml file. I am not sure where to go from there.. I am looking for the "href" code insertion point for that. Is this correct? I found something on the "view page source" of the actual webpage that appears to create this link, but I have no clue where to find that piece of code in the php's. I have opened all of the php and xml files in the theme folder. No luck finding the call for the link.. I am really getting desperate here, I really don't want to start all over designing to fit another template.. And I really like the layout of this template, aside from the magical appearance of a random link that won't go away...

After much investigation, I took a day off from it. Then I went back to basics, and approached it from another angle. There is only one explanation for this result that I can think of. There has to be an "open" href call somewhere. Sure enough, after looking at recent activity, I found it. I had placed an icon that pointed to my rss feed, and failed to close the action. After typing in "" at the end of the problem icon's html code, the problem disappeared. This one is solved, and I have learned something new about how WordPress works...

    Thank-You all for your help!
