Testing Themes In Different Browsers (8 posts)

Is there a software program that simulates different browsers and browser versions in order to test a theme's layout and styling ?

If so, can it look at a theme and tell you what part of your code will give you a problem under a certain browser or browser version?

And, if so, (and this is wishfull thinking) can it also suggest how to correct the problem?

    Thanks

Browsercam is a paid for service that does exactly what you want. However, it is probably overkill for most...

If you want us to help, stick a url to your site in your profile.

I just read in another forum that Topstyle checks your css and tells you the problems that would occur under different browsers - so I'm gonna check it out and see.

Does anyone in here know if that is true?

Here are some tips and resources that might help you.

    1. Install the different browsers and test your pages yourself.

    2. Ask friends and co-workers which computers they have and either visit them and test your site on their computers and browsers or ask them to do so and send you screen captures so you can see the graphic representation.

    3. This article on web page views looks at a single web page and the different "views" of that page by resolution, screen size, visually impaired utilities, search engines and more. There are links to helpful resources there, too.

    4. Check out these resources for looking at your page under different browsers and conditions:
