Testing Jetpack or Stats replacement? (3 posts)

I have been trying to install Jetpack, as I want to replace the increasingly aging stats.php on a production site that I am running. However, I know some of the features of Jetpack (the latex support for example) are likely to conflict with existing plugins and, of course, there is always the problem of unanticipated problems.

So, I wanted to install Jetpack on my test wordpress installation. But, sadly, it doesn't, because of the requirement for a reverse connection from wordpress.com. I have no desire at all to put my test machine onto the open internet -- the wordpress installation has dodgy passwords, test accounts and the like.

I also do not want to put untested software on my live server.

Am I missing any solution here?

We are using a password-protected test location in preparation for launching a new blog. It is very heavily based on plugins (e.g., for math latex), but would like to try JetPack instead. Like the above poster, the test environment cannot be made available for public view.

Please give us an option of using JetPack in our test environments before we take them live.

    Thanks in advance,
    Martha

If you are interested only in the Maths, you might want to look at my plugin -- mathjax-latex. It produces much nicer layout that wp-latex, using proper fonts rather than images.

Ironically, it is one of my potential problems with jetpack. I don't want wp-latex in case is clashes. Stats is my main and over riding concern.
