    Hi you helpful people,

I have a wordpress site hosted by godaddy. I'm in the early stages of setting it up and want to have a private test area online, as I read about here:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Test_Driving_WordPress#Hiding_Your_WordPress_Test_Area

I don't know how to set up an extension on my URL at GoDaddy to put this in.

    1. How do I set up this space at GoDaddy?
    2. When I have this setup, how do I make this private?
    3. When I have this setup, am I putting another version of my blog there? If so, how do I later transfer that back to the origional URL?
    4. Is there anything else helpful you think I should know for doing this?

I'm happy to recieve links to how-to's for this. I've been Googling people's advice the whole time I set this up, which has been great so far.

    Look forward to your replies,
    Nathan

you don't have to jump through all those hoops

set up a folder like "test" under the root
    install wordpress in "test" folder
    url would be like
    http://example.com/test
when you run the installer choose option to not be indexed by search engines
    once installed, go to
    dashboard - settings
    choose not to allow subscribers
get the site the way you want it, then move it to root
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_Within_Your_Site

you need to set it up now to allow subscribers if you want and to make it public
    dashboard - Settings - Privacy

    Hi Samboll,

Fantastic, so I got there eventually. I created a /test folder with all WordPress content and uploaded it. Then on GoDaddy I had to create a new SQL database and install Workdpress to the /test URL with new paremeters (username etc, host site extension etc). Now I have a test site.

So you're sure that I'll be able to migrate not only the content that I upload, but the WordPress settings back to my origional site?

    Cheers,
    Nathan

    Hey Again Samboll,

So again I find myself stuck and need direction. I think you may be able to at least guide me...

I have qTranslate plugin for multiple languages. That's great, it's fantastic(http://www.qianqin.de/qtranslate). I want to take it to the next level and edit the code to make all headers etc on my blog translate. I simply need an example of what the code would look like and then I can trall through all the CSS files and find the headers and alter the code.

Alas, I can't find an example anywhere. I have even posted a question on the qTranslate forum, but they don't seem to respond (http://www.qianqin.de/qtranslate/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1497).

Please help me, at least point the new kid on the block in the right direction.

    Thank you again in advance,
    Nathan

    Hi Samboll,

Don't worry, I've got it working!!!

I'm pretty excited. I found my solution on the plugin forum.

    E.g.

  8. <span class="home"><?php _e('[:en]Home [:zh]而'); ?></span>
  9. Cheers for your help
