• I have gone through and logged in to my wordpress blog and written a post. On my website the temporary webpage is still up. I have my WordPress uploaded into my root folder so that it should come up immediately. Is there something I am missing linking the index page to the wordpress so the blog comes up on my site?

thanks alot for the help samboll!

    ahhh… ok
FTP to your root and delete or rename the index.html or default.html.
Your server is looking for .html 1st. When you delete or rename the index.html it will pull the WP index.php.
After doing this, when you go to your site do a hard refresh on your browser
Ctrl + F5 on keyboard at same time.

do I need to add an index.php page. That’s what I did and it brings up a blank page now.

I noticed there is an index.php page in the wp-admin folder that is about 500 bytes or so. I tried moving that to my root folder which gave me an error that basically said it couldn’t find the index.php file in the admin folder.

I also tried copying and pasting the index.php file in the admin folder to put in the root folder as well but my ftp client did not allow that

Randomly moving files around when you don’t know what your doing is almost never a good idea. What you needed to do was delete the files samboll listed…. what you need to do now is put everything back as it was (but with the previously mentioned files deleted).

If you can’t remember what you moved/deleted/overwrote then you will need to delete all the existing files and reinstall.
