   My first post in my WordPress blog will describe my site. I want to create an About page that actually shows this specific post. What's the template tag I should use to insert a particular post into a page?

   Go all the way down, and have a look at Post Tags. :)

   Wouldn't it just be easier to create an About page and just put the information in the page? Or maybe I'm being obtuse.

   I've actually already looked through that site, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I think I'll do a redirect instead >_<

   I agree with joni, why not just use the Write -->Page feature built into WP? Just copy and paste the text into the page, and with permalinks, you would have yoursite.com/about.
