[resolved] Template Site - Should Themes and Plugins be Network Activated? (4 posts)

Hi - amazing plugin, thank you!

When I create a template site to be used repeatedly for creating clones, does it matter if the theme(s) and plugins on the template site are Network Activated or not? Are there any advantages to doing it one way or another?

    Best Regards,

Hmmm, I might be answering my own question here - I'm thinking that if possible they should be network activated if I want to be able to update all Themes and Plugins for all sites at once, as a Super-Admin, as opposed to updating individual sites.

    Hey - thanks for feedback!

There are different benefits to either approach and you might find that a combination works best. Are there plugins that you might not want active on specific sites? If you want the flexibility to disable some on a case by case basis then you'll want to make sure those are not network activated.

Otherwise, the clone site will exactly preserve the settings of the source / origin site, and naturally network activation will apply to all.

    Hope that helps!
