[resolved] Template Hierarchies and Subcategories - Not working (4 posts)

    Hey guys,

My site is split by the Blog and the Portfolio.

The blog list page runs off of index.php while the portfolio list page is running off of a category-portfolio.php page.

However my problem is that if you select a client (subcategory) or discipline (taxonomy) it displays the looped results using the index.php and not the category-portfolio.php

Fair enough there's nothing for the taxonomy terms to state that they are part of the portfolio category but all of the client sub-categories have Portfolio has their Parent Category. In relation to WordPress template hierarchy, how does it ignore category-portfolio.php and go straight to index.php?

Note: I've completely gotten rid of archive.php so I'm sure they're reverting back to index.php

No, sorry I need the subcategories archive pages to inherit the parent category's archive template.

Maybe I should just do if else statements in the one archive.php?

(Plus I'm not sure if that plugin works alongside taxonomies)

Thanks MichaelH for the help but this turned out to be the solution:
