Redirection
Target URL: Use full URL or relative URL? (3 posts)

    Hi,

Stupid question perhaps, but I can not seem to find the answer anywhere.

For a simple 301 redirect in Redirection, should I set the target URL to the full url (i.e. http://www.url.com/example) or the relative URL? (i.e. /example/)

It both works, so I wonder what is the best option?

    Thanks in advance!

Both work but it seems like whenever the plugin feels like it, see my post here, furthermore, same deal with Applying a Redirect from the Redirection tab or the Log tab

tnx for your reply Fanaticweb. I have experienced your problem as well. Somtimes the plugin behaves in an odd way.

Anyway, to be sure I use full URL for target URL, because when you make a redirect in a .htaccess you have do that as well. So I presume it is best practise.
