greasyguide: you start with the first error listed, fix it, then revalidate. It's easiest to check the box next to Show Source - that gives you a clickable link to the line in question.

marginwalker, as the previous poster from Technorati mentioned, "validation does help search indexers make better sense out of your page." You currently have 28 errors.

Im newish to this WP code and i did run the validation, but to be honest Im a bit clueless in regards to fix the errors.
I know of other blogs who have more errors on their pages, yet technorati is indexing them.
If Im honest, I'm getting a tad frustrated. I never had these problems with Blogger..
Well, it only seems to be indexing certain tags.. :-( I am starting to wonder why I moved to WP because Blogger didnt have this problem lol.
WP has been fantastic apart from this important issue.
I've had the same problem with Technorati tags. If people use the tag in a search, I come up but if they list blog posts with one of my tags, my posts are often not listed.
I get no response from Technorati support either.
I cut and paste the sample code from their list of posts tagged with a certain tag and it still doesn't work.
I've also tried manual pings and that doesn't seem to help.
"WP has been fantastic apart from this important issue."
What's "important" about this? Technorati lists BILLIONS of blog posts with tags. Unless a tag is "unique", a post is going to get lost in the dreck anyway. There are better ways to be "recognized" if that's the whole raison d'etrè....

Ive known blogs with loads of errors and they still get indexed properly.
marginwalker: I agree with you. Again I liked Technorati and it was good for getting traffic. I didn't feel like my post where getting lost at all and it was a good traffic builder. I can see the difference.
The WP Catt plugin that turns catagories into tags seems to work..
My categories seem to be tagged automatically and I've seen them in the listings. In addition, *some* of my tags work fine.
As for validation errors, what am I supposed to do about that? Isn't WordPress code producing the feed? If so, wouldn't that mean that WordPress is the problem rather than Technorati?

Yes, WordPress does produce the feed, and the feed is generally free of errors. What the Technorati people are concerned about is the validation of your blog's XHTML or HTML code (the main page of your blog), not your feed. And, those validation errors are usually a result of bad template coding and/or bad template editing.
Upon receiving your blog's update service ping, the Technorati bot visits your blog's URL, not your feed's URL. So, the bot must then search through your blog's code to find the <link> or <meta> tags which point to your feed. This is why valid code is recommended. If you code is no compliant to standards, then the Technorati bot may not be able to locate your feed's URL.

Thanks for explaining that so clearly, macmanx.
Since some of the Technorati tags work fine and they are all using the same template, I don't know how that could be the problem, since I don't change/edit the code or template each time I edit a post.
Each time the Technorati bot spiders through my main page, it should see the same errors.
I also copy the code for the Technorati tags directly from the Technorati site.
I will look into it more, though, to see if any changes I have made to the template (or the code that I downloaded) is producing errors that I can correct. Then I'll try again.
OK. I fixed all the errors. The page now validates.
I pinged Technorati. It showed my most recent update.
The tags still don't work, which is what I expected.
Perhaps it takes longer to update their tag indexes so I'll check again tomorrow. But it doesn't appear that validation is the problem.
I spent many hours this weekend fixing the XHTML on my blog, but still Technorati has not indexed me in several weeks. http://www.persistenceunlimited.com
Is there an error or something I am overlooking?
Have you tried to submit a support ticket to Technorati?
Use the WP-CATT plugin..
I did submit a ticket
Cross-correlating/posting a few other threads in case it helps; I note that ALL are left at a dead end HELP!
I have a solution that worked for me, primarily involving some single-quote to double-quote conversion in the file wp-rss2.php, for which I have posted the old/new file comparison here on my blog. I am cross-posting this to a total of 5 different threads here on the WordPress support forum, mainly out of a desire to help those whom I know must have also been going crazy with this or similar problems. Many thanks for sticking with it!
